Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just, and will not forsake His faithful ones. They will be protected forever. (Psalm 37:27-28)
But to the wicked, God says: “What right do you have to recite My laws or take My covenant on your lips? You hate My instruction and cast My words behind you. When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you TO YOUR FACE. Consider this, you who forget God, OR I WILL TEAR YOU TO PIECES, WITH NONE TO RESCUE...” (Psalm 50:16-22)
Let those who love the LORD HATE EVIL, for He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hands of the wicked. (Psalm 97:10)
He who conceals his sin does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength...” (Isaiah 30:15)
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7)
This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and DO WHAT IS RIGHT, for My salvation is close at hand and My righteousness will soon be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and KEEPS HIS HAND FROM DOING ANY EVIL.” (Isaiah 56:1-2)
This is what the LORD says: “When men fall down, do they not get up? When a man turns away, does he not return?.....I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. No one REPENTS of his wickedness, saying, ‘What have I done?’” (Jeremiah 8:4, 6)
“I will bring bereavement and destruction on My people, for they HAVE NOT CHANGED their ways.” (Jeremiah 15:7)
“If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve Me....” (Jeremiah 15:19)
This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “REPENT! Turn from your idols and renounce ALL your detestable practices.” (Ezekiel 14:6)
“But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all My decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.” (Ezekiel 18:21)
“For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone,” declares the Sovereign LORD. “REPENT AND LIVE!” (Ezekiel 18:32)
Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by TURNING FROM OUR SINS and giving attention to Your truth. (Daniel 9:13)
My God will reject them because they have not obeyed Him... (Hosea 9:17)
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Who knows? He may turn and have pity... (Joel 2:12, 14)
...Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways...Who knows? God may yet relent... (Jonah 3:7-9)
Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.” But they would not listen or pay attention to Me, declares the LORD. Where are your forefathers now? And the prophets, do they live forever? But did not My words and My decrees, which I commanded My servants the prophets, overtake your forefathers? Then they repented and said, “The LORD Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as He determined to do.” (Zech. 1:4-6)
In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea, and saying, “REPENT, for the kingdom of Heaven is near.” (Matt. 3:1-2)
From that time on, Jesus began to preach, “REPENT, for the kingdom of Heaven is near.” (Matt. 4:17)
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone WHO LOOKS at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” This clarifies sin; it does not NEED to be physically done, it is done in the mind as well, and is as bad, if not worse. {Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by THE RENEWING of your minds - Romans 12:2} (Matt. 5:27,28)
“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Jesus, from the Sermon on the Mount) I almost didn't include this verse. We KNOW we CAN NEVER achieve perfection in the flesh, NEVER. If we could have reached perfection, do you think that Jesus Christ, God the Son Himself, would have entombed Himself in horrible, weak imperfect flesh for 30+ years? That He would have suffered torture, and death, and 3 days in separation ABSOLUTELY from God, and light? No, I believe He paid the Ultimate price, because it WAS THE ONLY WAY... even with His payment, and the Spirit, we can NEVER be perfect, the most we can be is FORGIVEN. So why would He say such a thing, ask such an impossible thing? We were created in the image of God, in the likeness of God....we HAVE the aching desire within us to achieve perfection....so, how hard are you fighting against your sin? Do you resist a little, and say, “ooops...sorry, LORD.” and go on? Or are you FIGHTING IT, fighting hard? Does it look to Him like you hate it, like you are trying to please Him, REALLY TRYING? (Matt. 5:48)
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but only he who DOES THE WILL of My Father who is in Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. AWAY FROM ME, YOU EVILDOERS!’” (Matt. 7: 21-23)
...”and anyone who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matt. 10:38-39)
Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not REPENT. “Woe to you.....!” (Matt. 11:20)
“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me, scatters.” (Matt. 12:30)
Jesus told them another parable: {Parable of the Weeds} “The kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. The owner's servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles TO BE BURNED; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” Which one are you? Weed, or wheat? Are you SURE??? Why, because you're not dead yet, and you read the Word, and 'prophecy in His Name'? Learn this now: Work out your salvation WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING. (Matt. 13:24-30)
“If your hand or foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and to be thrown into ETERNAL FIRE.” He is absolutely not (make NO mistake about it!) telling you to hack off your hand with an axe! He IS telling you to go to EXTREMES, if necessary, to resist the evil. Do what it takes, WHATEVER it takes...do you hate it? Do you REALLY?? Does it LOOK to GOD like you REALLY do? FIGHT IT AT ALL COSTS!!! What is a little pain, discomfort, unpleasantness, compared to what WILL be?? (Matt. 18:8, 5:29-30; Mark 9:43-45)
Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you REPENT, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them - do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But UNLESS YOU REPENT, you too will all perish.” (Luke 13:3-5)
Then He told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, "For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?" "Sir," the man replied, "leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig around it and fertalize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then CUT IT DOWN." Are you bearing fruit? Is HE patiently waiting for you to KNOCK IT OFF, and start doing right? Are you almost OUT OF TIME?? (Luke 13:6-8)
“And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:27)
{To the invalid of thirty-eight years, healed at the pool} Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. STOP SINNING OR SOMETHING WORSE MAY HAPPEN TO YOU.” (John 5:14)
{To the prostitute brought out} “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now, and LEAVE YOUR LIFE OF SIN.” (John 8:11)
To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, then you really are My disciples.” (John 8:31)
“Whoever serves Me MUST follow Me; and where I am, My servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves Me.” (John 12:26)
“Whoever has My commands and keeps them, he is the one who loves Me. He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and show Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
It is for freedom that CHRIST HAS SET US FREE. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Gal. 5:1)
You were taught, with regard to your FORMER way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires... (Ephes. 4:22)
Have NOTHING to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness... (Ephes. 5:11)
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Phil. 1:27)
Put to DEATH, therefore, whatever belongs to the earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. (Col. 3:5)
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. (1 Thess. 4:7)
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows who are His,” and “Everyone who confess the name of the Lord MUST turn away from wickedness.” (2 Tim. 2:19)
Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. DO WHAT IT SAYS. (James 1:22)
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:14-16)
“He MUST turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.” (1 Peter 3:11)
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, (The Day of God) make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. (2 Peter 3:14)
God is light; in Him there is NO darkness AT ALL. If we CLAIM to have fellowship with Him, yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. (1 John 1:5-6)
The man who says, “I know Him,” but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him MUST walk as Jesus did. (1 John 2:4-6)
And in Him is NO sin. No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him. (1 John 3:5-6)
We know that anyone born of God DOES NOT continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. (1 John 5:18)
